XATHENS, Ga. -- The exchange of nuptial vows took place at 6 p.m. May 6 as Kelly Drake and Brendan Hackett were united in marriage by the Rev. Leonard Ezell at the chapel on the campus of the University of Georgia.
After a reception at the Foundry Park Inn and Spa in Athens, the couple left for a honeymoon to San Pedro, Belize. They live at 969 Grant Cove Place, Atlanta.
The bride is a daughter of Karen Drake, 2129 White Kirk St. NW, Kennesaw, Ga., and the groom's parents are Jean and Frank A. Chimento, 526 Glacierview Drive, Youngstown, and Daniel Hackett of Lake Forest, Calif.
The ivory silk strapless gown worn by the bride featured a trumpet style skirt.
Salmon accented cranberry gowns were worn by Allison McWhorter, the honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Luci Givens, Wendy Lynch, Michelle Smith, Amy Snellings and Sandy Vansant.
Serving as best man for his brother was Jacob Hackett, and groomsmen were the bride's brother, Jordan Drake; the groom's brother, Colin Hackett; his cousin, Ian Hackett; Josh Hendrick; Jason Turner; and Damon Vance.
The bride, a senior advertising manager with Cingular Wireless in Atlanta, earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Georgia.
The groom also graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He is a senior account executive with Westwayne Inc. in Atlanta.
