XNASSAU, Bahamas -- St. Anselmo's Catholic Church was the setting at 4 p.m. May 20 as Katie L. Balestra, 3000 Lee Highway, Arlington, Va., and Corey J. Poole, 7600 Shady Lane, Boonsboro, Md., were united in marriage.
Monsignor Preston Moss officiated at the wedding for the daughter of John and Mary Balestra, 1125 Shadeland Drive, Youngstown, and the son of Charles and Phyllis Poole, also of the Boonsboro address.
After the ceremony, the couple left on a wedding trip to Aruba. They live in Arlington and will be honored during a postnuptial reception June 23 at Avion on the Water in Canfield.
The bride wore a strapless, mermaid-style gown of satin enhanced with a crystal-adorned lace overlay and a layered lace and tulle train.
Black gowns were worn by the bride's sister and honor attendant, Kelly Balestra of Boardman, and the bridesmaid, the groom's sister, Katie Poole of Boonsboro.
The duties of best man were performed by the groom's brother, Casey Poole of Traverse City, Mich., and serving as groomsman was Nathal Reel of Olney, Md.
A graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, the bride is a congressional liaison to the inspector general and a writer-editor with the U.S. Department of Interior in Washington.
The groom is the owner of Earth Tech in Hagerstown, Md. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in horticulture and landscape architecture.
