More evidence that it really is all your fault: A new study suggests that parents who are strict disciplinarians are significantly more likely to have children who are overweight in first grade than are parents who are sensitive and respectful of a child's opinions but maintain clear boundaries. So really, lighten up already.

Researchers in the Netherlands are at work on developing a virtual counselor, or chatbot, designed to help people quit smoking.
The online counselors, at least as conceived by Betsy van Dijk and her colleagues from the University of Twente, would have the advantage of being free and available around the clock. Also, for those shamed by their inability to kick butts, the chatbots -- which would programmed to respond as human counselors would -- would likely be unable to detect smoke on the breath, skin or clothing.
