Two area priests given new assignments
YOUNGSTOWN -- Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin, diocesan administrator of the Diocese of Youngstown, has appointed two priests to new assignments.
The Rev. James Sullivan was appointed administrator of St. Dominic Church, effective July 1. The Rev. Vincent Freeh was appointed associate pastor of St. Mary and St. Paul churches in Canton, effective Aug. 1.
Father Sullivan, a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), was ordained May 26, 1995. He completed seminary studies at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.
Before coming to Youngstown, Father Sullivan served as associate pastor in Cincinnati, a preacher in Massachusetts and seminary professor and provincial promoter of the Dominican Third Order in New York. He currently serves as prior at St. Dominic Priory.
Father Freeh was ordained May 30, 1959, for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. He completed seminary studies at Sacred Heart Seminary in Shelby. Father Freeh has served in various ministries in Aurora, Ill., and was a missionary in Papua, New Guinea. He also served as local superior for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Watertown, N.Y., and as director of the Sacred Heart Retreat House.
