The competition
The National Eisteddfod of Wales can be traced back to 1176, beginning as a gathering for the country's top poets and musicians. The eisteddfodau were held throughout Wales under the patronage of Welsh gentry and noblemen. By the beginning of the 19th century, the Eisteddfod had developed into a full-fledged competitive folk festival on a large scale. Each year, Welsh people from all over the world return to Wales during Eisteddfod week.
A celebration concert featuring Megan Elizabeth Morris will be held at Heinz Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, at 3 p.m. June 25. The performance is open to the public, and donations may be made at the door.
