BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Kevin Casey and Juliann Gorse of Warren have been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest scholastic honor society in the nation. Casey, a senior majoring in film studies and psychology and a 2002 Howland High School graduate, is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honorary and the University Film Organization. He is the son of Joseph and Cheryl Casey. Gorse, a senior majoring in international studies and Spanish, has studied in Spain and Chile. She is a member of the Spanish Club, the Japanese Club, the Cross Cultural Conversation Committee and Golden Key Honor Society. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2002 and is the daughter of Edward and Cynthia Gorse.
DICKINSON COLLEGE, CARLISLE, PA.
Joy Marie Burnette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Burnette of Canfield, has been inducted into the National Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for First Year Students. She is a graduate of Canfield High School.
WITTENBURG UNIVERSITY, SPRINGFIELD, OHIO
Courtney L. Bennett of Canfield and Amy L. Holden of Youngstown were inducted into Gamma Sigma Alpha national honor society, which recognizes outstanding academic performance within the Greek community.
ASHLAND UNIVERSITY, ASHLAND, OHIO
Sara Perry, daughter of Daniel and Shelly Perry and Beverly Perry, all of Cortland, has been inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, an economics honorary. Perry is a 2002 Badger High School graduate and recently received a bachelor's degree in business administration degree in Economics and Finance.
Keona Padgett of Cortland has been inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics honorary at Ashland. The 2002 Lakeview High School graduate is a senior majoring in political science.
UNIVERSITY OF AKRON
Cortney Hoch, a Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program scholar, was the only college student from Ohio invited to take part in the annual Posters on The Hill event in Washington, D.C., in April. Students present their research on posters placed in the Rayburn House Office Building, and Hoch's poster was based on her participation in the 12-week Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Akron last summer. Hoch worked with Dr. Judit E. Puskas, Lanxess chair in the Department of Polymer Science, who is developing new and safer polymer material for breast implants. Hoch, a 2006 honors graduate of Youngstown State University and 2002 graduate of Hubbard High School, is the daughter of John and Barbara Hoch of Youngstown.
MARIETTA COLLEGE, MARIETTA, OHIO
Alexandra Ratie of Salem, a junior, was recently named one six recipients of the 2005-06 Sally Snead Macatol Fellowship. The fellowship was established in 1999 to encourage applied music study and/or ensemble participation to those students who work hard and add so much to the performing areas of the music department. Ratie was selected for her work in the concert choir.
JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY, CLEVELAND
Corey J. Dolak of Canfield and Allison M. Tanner of Brookfield were presented a Cleveland Public Accounting Firms Award for outstanding achievement at the university's recent Accountancy Awards ceremony. Dolak is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Phi Eta Sigma honorary fraternity and the Accounting Association. He is the son of Gary and Debbie Dolak of Canfield and a 2002 graduate of Canfield High School. Tanner is a member of Phi Eta Sigma honor fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, the Accounting Association and a participant in intramural softball and volleyball. She is a 2002 graduate of Brookfield High School and the daughter of Fran and Wayne Tanner.
