Woman charged in assault with shotgun
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police charged a Wallace Street woman with felonious assault after the woman's cousin said she fired a shotgun at her.
Police were called to the 300 block of Wallace Street and found a disassembled shotgun in the basement of the home. They charged Tamara Mabone, 30, with felonious assault and unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance.
The victim said her juvenile son was nearby when Mabone fired the shotgun at her feet. She showed police the place in the kitchen where it was fired. Police found the stock and trigger portion of the shotgun in a basket of clothes and the barrel in a cardboard box with a Christmas tree. Police said the shotgun is a 12-gauge with a 22-inch barrel sawed off to 14 inches, and has no serial numbers.
