Trial delayed for owner of Rhode Island nightclub
WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- The trial for one of the owners of a nightclub where a 2003 fire killed 100 people was postponed Wednesday until September.
Among the victims was Sharon, Pa., native Ty Longley, guitarist with hard-rock band Great White, whose pyrotechnics ignited the club's insulation foam.
Michael Derderian, who owned The Station in West Warwick along with his brother, had been scheduled to stand trial July 31. The proceedings were postponed to Sept. 5 to make sure that the new courthouse being built will be ready to handle the high-profile case.
