Video game review
"TAO'S ADVENTURE: CURSE OF THE DEMON SEAL"
(Konami) for Nintendo DS $29.99; Rating: E.
Grade: C
Mondominio is a bustling town of trade and commerce and the site of the famous Monster Tower. It has 30 floors filled with brutal monsters that are more difficult to defeat as you go higher. One day, the seal on the top of the tower is broken, releasing the monsters of the higher levels.
Far away on Bente Island, Tao begins to learn the secrets of air spelling, the ancient art of using a rod to draw shapes in the air that conjure powerful spells. Later that day, the ancient bird monster Straitser attacks the island and turns all the inhabitants except Tao and the elders into stone. The elders are anything but heroes, so it is up to Tao (you) to find the Straitser egg and reverse the spell.
I liked that you could draw the spell you wanted to cast on the touch screen and how, when you got more powerful as you reached higher levels, the drawings became more complicated.

Better than beer?
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Apple Computer Inc.'s iconic iPod music player surpassed beer drinking as the most "in" thing among undergraduate college students, according to the latest biannual market research study by Ridgewood, N.J.-based Student Monitor.
Nearly three quarters, or 73 percent, of 1,200 students surveyed said iPods were "in" -- more than any other item in a list that also included text messaging, bar hopping and downloading music.
In the year-ago study, 59 percent of students named the iPod as "in," putting the gadget well below alcohol-related activities.
This year, drinking beer and Facebook.com, a social networking Web site, were tied for second most popular, with 71 percent of the students identifying them as "in."
