Board of directors named, three members are honored



YOUNGSTOWN -- The annual meeting of the Youngstown YWCA on May 24 featured the election of members and officers to the board of directors and the recognition of several members for their service to the organization.
Elected as new members to the board of directors were:
Susan Berny, community volunteer/president of Angels of Easter Seals.
Amy Mirkin, certified public accountant, LLC.
Shirley Poindexter, management recruiter for Product Action.
Cheryl L. Waite, judge for the Seventh District Court of Appeals of Ohio.
Rhonda Mona Warren, financial representative II for St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Re-elected to the board were Fran Curd, director of human resources/office operations for PRM; and Stephanie Hunter, health-care consultant.
Susan M. Moorer, coordinator of diversity initiatives at Youngstown State University, was elected president of the board of directors.
Named as her associate officers were Waite, first vice president; Hunter, second vice president; Jan Belleville, treasurer; and Marseille Ballard, secretary.
Serving on the 2006-2007 YWCA nominating committee will be: Marseille Ballard, Ruth K. Bradshaw, Rita Cintavey, June Ewing, Mary Lou Green, Verna Brown Kness, and Goldia McCall.
Honors
Moorer received the YWCA Board Member of the Year honor; Brian Whitfield of East Palestine received the YWCA Volunteer of the Year Award; and Eileen Kinnard, housing resident aide, was named YWCA Employee of the Year.
The keynote speaker at the meeting was Dr. Diane Barnes, assistant professor in the history department at YSU.
The goal of the YWCA is to eliminate racism and empower women by providing housing and supportive services, child care and youth development, and health education and outreach.
