Two arraigned in school break-in

YOUNGSTOWN -- Two Youngstown men were to be arraigned today on charges that they broke into Volney Rogers Junior High School.
Police responding to an alarm a said they caught two men, Timothy T. Waselich, 19, of Hartzell Avenue, and Christopher G. Dalambakis, 24, of Price Road, in the school building at 2400 S. Schenley Ave.
The men were charged with breaking and entering and lodged in Mahoning County jail.
Police got the call just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, and the first officers to reach the scene reported seeing two men just inside the glass doors on the north side of the building. The men fled into the building's interior.
Backup units were called in, and the building was surrounded. Police said the men tried to climb out a classroom window at one point but ran back into the building interior when they saw an officer approaching.
The men approached the doors on the north side of the building moments late and surrendered.
They told police they had been robbed and chased by suspects into the building but a thorough search of the structure failed to turn up anyone else, police said.
Police said a kitchen door at the rear of the school was the men's entry point into the building. Officers said they found a plastic garbage bag containing various food products near that door.
