YOUNGSTOWN -- The man whose body was found rolled up in a carpet off East Auburndale Avenue has been identified as Jeffery Foster, 43, of East Florida Avenue.
The Mahoning County coroner's office said Foster was shot twice in the head and died of those wounds. Police said his body, clad only in boxer shorts, was found in a driveway of a vacant duplex Saturday, wrapped in carpet that was bound with garden hose.
Sturgeon turns self in
YOUNGSTOWN -- Indicted Boardman lawyer Edward F. Sturgeon turned himself in to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department, where he was arrested and released on his own recognizance Tuesday.
A grand jury in Franklin County indicted Sturgeon, 53, Monday on three felony counts of perjury regarding statements he gave the Ohio Supreme Court's disciplinary counsel, which was investigating allegations of misconduct against Sturgeon.
Sturgeon, of Barbie Drive, must appear in Franklin County Common Pleas Court by 4 p.m. today.
The indictment says Sturgeon made false statements to disciplinary counsel investigators Nov. 10, 2004.
The former Mahoning County assistant prosecutor has acknowledged two sex-related acts with clients in his private practice, according to Vindicator files.
Andrews Ave. cleanup
YOUNGSTOWN -- Andrews Avenue businesses, property owners and friends will host a community cleanup at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Volunteers will meet at City Machine Technologies Inc., 448 Andrews Ave., which will serve as the home base with doughnuts, beverages, lunch and restrooms.
The cleanup will focus on the U.S. Route 422 and McGuffey overpass areas. Volunteers are encouraged to bring any supplies.

GOP reorganization
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Republican Party had its reorganization meeting Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and re-appointed all of its top office holders to four-year terms.
They are Craig Bonar, chairman; Kathi Creed, first vice chairman; and Norma Williams, treasurer.
Vandals strike school
AUSTINTOWN -- Police said vandals struck at the new middle school on Raccoon Road.
Stan Watson, the school district's building director, told police someone sprayed fire extinguishers in a hallway and wrote on walls with permanent markers.
The school is under construction, and is expected to be completed by fall 2007.
Boy, 12, harassed
AUSTINTOWN -- One of two white males in a car threw a can of beer and hit a 12-year-old boy in the head as he was riding his bike on Timberlane Drive, police said.
The youth told his mother, and the two drove around looking for the car, police said. They saw it parked at a store at Kirk and South Raccoon roads. When the boy's mother, who is black, drove over to get the car's registration number, the passenger made a racial comment, police said.
The boy was treated at a Forum Health facility.
