Swim program deadline nears
McDONALD -- Pre-registration forms for the McDonald Village Summer Swim Program must be returned by Wednesday for children 3 to 5 and school-age children up to sixth grade.
The forms, which include a waiver and require a parent's signature, should be returned to the municipal building.
Swim lessons are free, and children are asked to enter the high school pool at the back door across from the stadium steps.
Lessons will be Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Lessons start June 14 and run through Aug. 3. All participants will be contacted by phone about their assigned time and day.
The Warm Water Pool Program -- structured pool activities for school district residents with arthritis, muscle aches and who want low-impact exercise -- starts Friday. That program is for residents 18 and older and costs $3 per class.
Sign-up and waiver forms for both programs should be filled out before the sign-up deadline for children and the start date for adults. They are to be returned to the municipal building or mailed to: Pool Program, 451 Ohio Ave., McDonald 44437.
Adult swim classes will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday and Friday mornings.
All forms can be obtained through the municipal building or the school.
The McDonald school board met in special session Monday to approve the use of the high school pool facilities at no cost to the village for the annual summer swim and senior citizens fitness programs.
The liability insurance for the programs is the responsibility of the village, which will include the school district as an added insured entity on the village's liability insurance policy.
Liability waivers signed by participants or their parents must be presented to the superintendent of schools before they begin the swim programs.
