Lack of polygraph results delays sentencing
WARREN -- Sentencing has been delayed for a week for Trumbull County purchasing probe defendant Daniel A. Donofrio III of Brookfield.
Donofrio, 41, appeared Monday before Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Peter Kontos, but the case was continued until next Monday until the results of a polygraph test are available.
Chris Becker, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, said the test results are still with private polygrapher Bill Evans of Akron.
Donofrio is a contractor who scrubbed the floors of county buildings. He pleaded guilty to two theft charges and agreed to make restitution of $12,000 to the county for his part in the purchasing scheme.
County officials said they were not able to locate a floor scrubber Donofrio supposedly sold to the county in 1999 for $7,000 for him to use to clean floors in the family court detention center. Prosecutors were unavailable to explain why restitution was set for $12,000.
