Red Bulls win
CAMPBELL -- Thanks to an outstanding defensive performance and late goal-line stand, the Ohio Red Bulls' semi-professional football team opened defense of its United States Football Alliance championship with a 12-0 win over the Lackawanna (N.Y.) Dynasty Saturday at John Knapick Field in Campbell High School Stadium before about 400 fans.
Abdul Jordan and Toby Walker scored the touchdowns on 1-yard plunges in the first and third quarters, respectively, for the Red Bulls, then the defense stopped the Dynasty on the half-yard line with about three minutes remaining to preserve the lead.
Lackawanna had a first-and-goal at the Red Bulls' 4-yard line, but the locals held to keep the shutout.
Jordan rushed for 70 yards in 11 carries to lead the Red Bulls, while Walker, a regular defensive tackle, was inserted into the backfield for just one play to score on his only run of the game.
The Red Bulls' defense came up with five sacks, including one each by Walker, James Moody and Yianni Skoutelis; one interception by Myzelle Arrington and a fumble recovery by Jason Helett.
Saturday the Red Bulls visit the Beaver County Vipers at Beaver (Pa.) High Stadium at 7 p.m.
