Caparso 50th observed at Mass, reception
XLOWELLVILLE -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Emiddio Caparso of Lowellville was observed June 3 during a Mass at St. James Church in New Bedford, Pa., where they are members.
A reception was held in their honor afterward at St. Nicholas Hall in Struthers.
Hosts for the celebrations were the couple's children and their spouses, Frank and Jeanne Caparso of Brecksville and Michael and Kimberly Caparso and Maria and Al DeChurch, all of Boardman. Also participating were the couples six grandchildren.
The former Phyllis Angelo and Mr. Caparso were united in marriage June 2, 1956, at St. James Church, where they renewed their nuptial vows and where Mr. Caparso is a member of the Men's Group.
The couple are active in volunteer work with various organizations and have spent the past four winters as volunteers at St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Boulder City, Nev.
Mr. Caparso, who is also known as Cappy, served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was employed at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. prior to retiring in 1980.
