Victory Christian Center to expandto new prayer center

COITSVILLE -- A 2,200-square-foot World Prayer Center is under construction at Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, and will cost an estimated $460,000. Construction should be completed by early fall.
Victory Christian Center, which is located on what was the site of the former Sky High Drive-in property, is affiliated with the Assemblies of God denomination.
The center's offices are located two miles east of the main building, at 15 Bedford Road.
The main building at Victory Christian, which was constructed in the late 1980s, has 50,000 square feet. Its youth center has 13,000 square feet.
The Rev. Jim Cook, associate pastor, said the prayer center will be a year-round place for prayer 24 hours a day.
There's something unique under the foundation of the prayer center, the Rev. Mr. Cook said. Victory Christian asked the congregation to bring in stones from their yards, cities and workplaces and write the names of local towns and other places of importance on the stones. There also are stones from Australia, Scotland and Europe, Mr. Cook added. The stones, now covered by the foundation, reflect the "world" part of the prayer center's name and its concern and caring for the world, he added.
