Truck carrying bananas turns over on I-680

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating a truck rollover on Interstate 680 on the West Side at the Route 711 connector bridge that closed the highway in both directions.
A Youngstown Fire Department dispatcher said fire crews were still at the scene around 11 p.m. and Ohio Department of Transportation inspectors were checking the bridge for damage.
Police expected the interstate to be closed for about six hours Friday after the crash around 9 p.m. Police said the driver dumped a load of bananas, but was not injured.
Police were attempting to give the driver a blood-alcohol test at the police station on Boardman Street around 10:30 p.m., and had no other information available before press time.
