Three members of a Salem family returning home from a wedding in Oakdale, Pa., are killed in a head-on crash between their car and a Greyhound bus near Pittsburgh. Dead are Mrs. Anna Belich, 70; her son, Peter Corkett, 40, and his wife, Kathryn, 45. Eight other persons were injured, including two other sons of Mrs. Belich.
The median income for men in the United States increases by about $150, to $3,400 a year, while the average for women stays unchanged at $1,200, the U.S. Census Bureau reports.
