New Castle break-in leads to arrests of 2
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Two men were arrested in a home invasion robbery on Old U.S. Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township.
Pennsylvania State Police said police stopped Leroy W. Pounds, 20, of Patterson Road, Slippery Rock on Pa. Route 19 in Scott Township shortly after the crime Wednesday. Police said he was alone in a car that matched a description given by a witness.
According to police, four men forced their way into a home and robbed a man and woman Tuesday and pistol whipped the man.
Police said more investigation led to the arrest of Shane C. Stone, 21, of Stoner Drive, Portersville, Pa.
Both men face charges of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
Pounds was arraigned and released after posting $1,000 bond.
Stone remained in jail after failing to post $100,000 bond. Police said more arrests and charges are pending as the investigation continues.
