Beautifying the beds
Tony DiGiacomo of Boardman, left, brought his tiller with him to Youngstown CityScape's annual Streetscape volunteer planting day in downtown Youngstown. The event is now in its ninth year. He prepared some of the beds outside the Key Bank Building on Wick Avenue on Saturday. Ann Moncrief, top from left, of Youngstown; Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape; and Glenda House of Youngstown work outside Chase Bank. Above, Sarah Ellis, center, of Youngstown State University's re:Create program, is assisted by Matti Shahaden, left, of Berlin Center, and Emmett Hynes of Lowellville. Both children are members of the Lucky Llamas 4-H Club. Funds for the flowers come from area businesses, private donations and grants.
