City sees 12th homicide

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating as a homicide the case of a man found dead late Saturday afternoon in a driveway adjacent to a vacant red brick duplex at 18 E. Auburndale Ave., said Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives.
After receiving a call from a concerned citizen, police found the unidentified gray-haired black man wrapped in a carpet and unresponsive just east of an AutoZone store and only a few yards from heavily traveled Market Street on the city's South Side.
A pool of blood remained visible in the gravel driveway after detectives, the crime lab and coroner's office staff left the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Homicides Detectives John Kelty and Richard Spotleson are handling the investigation. Centorame asked anyone with information to call the police and ask for the detectives.
This is the city's 12th homicide this year, which is the same number recorded at this time in 2005.
