Campbell's Johnson-Koulianos signs with Iowa

CAMPBELL -- Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, Cardinal Mooney High's outstanding senior quarterback last season from Campbell, has signed a letter of intent to attend Iowa University and play football for the Hawkeyes this coming season.
Koulianos-Johnson, the adopted son of Dr. Anthony and Lauren Koulianos of Campbell, said one of the reasons he selected Iowa over Michigan was because, "I have a chance to play really early at my position [wide receiver]," he pointed out.
Johnson-Koulianos said he narrowed down his final two choices to Iowa and Michigan, and then clinched his decision after visiting both schools recently. He visited Iowa two weekends ago and Michigan last weekend.
He plans to join the Iowa football team at summer camp on July 8, and will major in communications.
