YOUNGSTOWN -- Three players have signed with YSU.
Cheryl Cale of Columbus Watterson, Autumn Grove of Canton Central Catholic and Erin Schindler of Eastlake High in Sammamish, Wash., will be freshmen in 2007.
Cale is a pitcher, first baseman and outfielder who was second team all-state this season. She batted .403 with four home runs and 19 RBIs. On the mound she was 12-5 with a 0.98 ERA and 141 strikeouts in 129 innings.
Grove, an infielder and outfielder, batted .426 with 19 RBIs and a .721 slugging percentage.
Schindler, a right-handed pitcher, went 16-6 with a 0.42 ERA and batted .308.

*R & amp; J Trucking scored seven runs in the final two innings to beat Astro Falcons, 12-6, in a Class B League game Wednesday night.
Jim Pasquine and Xavier Godoy had three hits each with Godoy driving home three runs for R & amp;J (3-1). Ben Miller and Tyler Manfull added two hits each.
Jesse D'Amico had a single and a double for Astros (2-2). Only four runs allowed by the four Astro pitchers were earned. However they allowed 13 hits and walked nine.
*Penn-Ohio scored a run in the top of the 11th inning to defeat Youngstown Metros 2-1 in a Class AA game.
Josh Dziomba had three hits, including a triple, for Penn-Ohio and Chris Miller had two. Mike Sakorski also tripled.
For Metros, Dan Bertolini, Grant Sevek, Tom Clayton and Brett Pitzulo all had two hits. One of Sevek's was a double.
*Bud's/DiCioccio defeated T.C. Merchants 8-2 in a Class AA game.
Frank Santore tripled and doubled and had three RBIs for Bud's. Mark Nightingale doubled twice with two RBIs, and Brent Parks tripled and singled. Shane Davis had two RBIs.
Willie Sly doubled to lead T.C. Merchants.
*Roth Brothers defeated TC Merchants 8-2 at Pemberton Park in a Class AA game. Joe Bettura had a three-run double for Roth, while Barry Wardle singled twice and had three RBIs. Greg Rohan finished with three hits, while Jonathon Habuda and George Rohan had two each. Dave Yost was the winner, allowing one unearned run.
Nemergut seventh
EMPORIA , Kan -- Julie Nemergut, a senior on the Edinboro University women's track team from South Range High, has become a two-time collegiate All-American in the 10,000-meter run.
Nemergut placed seventh in the 10,000 in 37:23.05 at NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & amp; Field National Championships on Thursday at Emporia State University to win All-American honors.
She previously gained the same distinction in 2004 which she placed eighth in the national meet.

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Michelle Fuss is Grove City College's new softball coach and assistant women's basketball coach.
Fuss comes from Geneva College, where she worked as the school's conference services director from 1999-2006. Fuss served as Geneva's softball coach during the 1996 season, and then again from 1998-2000.
Academic honors
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City College student-athletes earned academic All-District II College Division honors for track and field and cross country.
Senior women's cross country runner Elisa Pedersen and junior cross country/track and field performer Andrew Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa.) were each named first team.
Junior distance runner Cara Pierce and junior thrower Sarah Bray were named to the second team.
SRU golfer defendsstate championship
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Ten golfers from colleges in Pennsylvania will participate in the Edward P. Zemprelli Collegiate Shootout as a prelude to the Bob Burgess-Thomas McCormac charity golf outing June 7 at Hershey Golf Club.

GIRARD -- The custom-built Speedo Chopper, built by the famous Orange County Choppers, will be on display at the Speedco Lube & amp; Tires June 12 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Speedco Lube & amp; Tires is located at 55 Manning Drive.
