CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS: June 9 is the deadline for those who ran in the May 2 primary to file campaign finance reports with their county board of elections for the period between April 13 and June 2.
Of particular interest in Mahoning County are the Democratic primaries for the 60th Ohio House District representative and county commissioner.
Pre-primary reports showed state Sen. Robert F. Hagan as the clear leader when it came to raising money among the six Democratic candidates in the 60th race before April 13. It's a safe assumption that Hagan, who won, raised the most money overall in the primary.
The pre-primary reports in the commissioner's race were rather dull with Commissioner David Ludt, the primary winner, raising $14,000 and loaning $3,250 to his campaign compared to ex-Youngstown Mayor George M. McKelvey, his challenger, who raised $2,000 and lent $10,000 to his campaign.
With the number of television commercials in the final days of the campaign, both raised and spent significantly more money in the post-primary filing period than in the pre-primary time frame.
