WNBA ROUNDUP | Wednesday's games

Lynx 114, Sparks 71
MINNEAPOLIS -- Rookie Seimone Augustus scored a season-high 26 points and Minnesota broke the league record for points in a game. Six Lynx players finished in double figures to slow down a road-weary Sparks squad playing its fifth game away from home to start the season. Kristen Mann scored a career-high 18 for the Lynx, who made a franchise-record 15 3-pointers on 22 attempts. Svetlana Abrosimova added a season-high 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting. Minnesota's 114 points surpassed the previous WNBA record of 111, set by Detroit on June 18, 2000. Tamara Moore scored 18 points to lead the Sparks, while Lisa Willis chipped in 12. The Lynx held reigning WNBA player of the week Lisa Leslie scoreless in the first quarter and to just eight points in the game -- all in the second quarter.
Comets 73, Fever 60
HOUSTON -- Dominique Canty scored a career-high 24 points to lead Houston over Indiana. Tina Thompson and Sheryl Swoopes added 12 points each for the Comets, who won their third straight and handed Indiana its first loss of the season. Tamika Whitmore scored a team-high 15 points for the Fever, who played without leading scorer Tamika Catchings. Catchings missed her first game since 2001 because of an arch sprain in her right foot.
