UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Asjha Jones matched her career high with 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Sun. With the five starters struggling offensively, coach Mike Thibault turned to his backups to pull the Eastern Conference-leading Sun (21-6) out of trouble in the third quarter where the Sun trailed by as many as seven points. Jones had 12 points and reserve forward LeCoe Willingham chipped in five of her nine in a 17-6 run that turned the game around late in the third quarter. The Sun reserves finished with a season-high 42 points.
Liberty 78, Lynx 69
NEW YORK -- Barbara Farris and Shameka Christon scored 20 points apiece to help the Liberty win their third straight game. Loree Moore had 12 points and Sherill Baker 10 as New York (7-20) rebounded after squandering a 17-point, first-half lead. The Liberty snapped a franchise-record six-game losing streak at home, swept the two-game season series and beat Minnesota at home for just the second time in six meetings.
Comets 82, Mercury 80
PHOENIX -- Astou Ndiaye-Diatta made a 10-footer in the lane with 4.1 seconds left to lift the Comets to their third win in four games. Dawn Staley had 17 points and four assists for Houston (16-12).
Fever 69, Sky 64
CHICAGO -- Tamika Catchings had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Indiana. Anna DeForge scored 14 points as the Fever (17-10) rebounded from a 74-67 loss at home to Washington on Saturday night. Candice Dupree scored a 25 points and Amanda Lassiter had 18 for the expansion Sky (4-23).
Mystics 78, Sting 73
WASHINGTON -- DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 22 of her career-high 26 points in the second half to help the Mystics clinch a WNBA playoff berth. Milton-Jones' 3-pointer gave the Mystics (15-13) a 76-70 lead with 1:28 remaining. Monique Currie's three-point play pulled the Sting to 76-73 before Nikki Teasley made two free throws in the final 56 seconds to seal the win.
