Mahoning sobriety checkpoint nets several charges, citations
GOSHEN -- Four people were charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence during the Mahoning County OVI Task Force's latest checkpoint.
The checkpoint was from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday on state Routes 14 and 534.
Participating law enforcement officials were from Goshen, Smith, Jackson and Beaver townships, Sebring village, Canfield city and Lake Milton State Park.
Some 756 vehicles went through the checkpoint, and 50 were diverted.
Those arrested on OVI charges were all 21 years old or older. The average blood-alcohol content reading was 0.121. A person in Ohio is considered intoxicated with a reading of at least 0.08 percent.
Some 36 people received citations for restraint violations. Four vehicles were seized.
Three people were charged with driving while under suspension.
Eight other people were charged with misdemeanors. They were: possession of marijuana, four; open container of alcohol, one; under age possession and consumption, one; and possession of drug paraphernalia, two.
