XPUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC -- A postnuptial reception was held July 21 at The Georgetown in Boardman in honor of Scott M. Jones of New Springfield, and his bride, the former Karen M. Tarka of Poland, who were married in the Dominican Republic.
The ceremony took place at 7:30 p.m. July 11 at Secrets Excellence Resort and was solemnized by a Dominican Judge.
The couple honeymooned at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and live in New Springfield.
Michael and Virginia Tarka of New Springfield are parents of the bride, and the groom is a son of the late Raymond and Marjorie Jones, who had lived in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The bride's halter-style white georgette A-line gown featured a beaded bodice, side drape and sweep train.
Mrs. Jones graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in education/English, and from Geneva College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She earned a master's degree at Westminster College and is a second-grade teacher with Mohawk Area Schools in Bessemer, Pa.
Mr. Jones, a mortgage-loan originator with Home Savings and Loan in Youngstown, attended YSU.
