Poland's Modic assists champs

LORDSTOWN -- Jenna Modic of Poland helped the Little Slammers of North Canton win the 12-under PONY national championship.
The Slammers won three games on Friday, defeating Pittsburgh Power 2-0 in the title contest. Modic had a hit.
In the 5-1 semifinal win over Heart of Ohio Force, Modic threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts. She also had two hits and drove in two runs.
In a 7-0 victory over Long Island Chargers, the Poland Middle School student contributed four hits and four RBIs.
The Slammers (53-11) have won 18 straight games and will compete in the ASA Championships starting Monday in Bloomington, Ind.
