Indiana advances with win



Hammond eliminated Illinois Americans 12-2 in the Babe Ruth 16 regional.
STRUTHERS -- Indiana's Hammond knocked the SE Illinois Americans out of the Babe Ruth 16 regional tournament at Cene Park.
Hammond pounded out 13 hits in Saturday's 12-2 win.
Today at 8 p.m., Hammond will face the loser of the Rondinelli/Newark game.
Jeff Strbjak had three hits, all triples, and drove home two runs while Nick Hladek had three hits and three RBIs for Hammond.
Drew Kida, Eric Summers and Austin Suter had two hits each while winning pitcher Jake Terpstra went the distance with four strikeouts and no earned runs allowed.
Airen Foney had a pair of hits and drove home a run, his sixth RBI in two games Saturday. Troy White had two hits for the Americans.
Okolina 5, SE Illinois 4
Kentucky's Okolina scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to eliminate SE Illinois Nationals.
A double by winning pitcher Tony Vittitow scored Bryan Chappell with the winning run.
Jordan Messex had three hits and Vittotow two for the winners. Vittitow tossed 31/3 innings of two hit scoreless ball for the win.
Eric Merechick had two hits for the losers.
Kentucky will play today at 5:30 p.m. against the loser of the New Albany, Indiana/Livi Steel game.
SE Illinois Americans 11,Wisconsin 6
The Illinois Americans eliminated Wisconsin as Jim Clement had four hits.
Foney had three hits and drove home five runs. White and Vallmer Jordan also had three hits each for the winners.
Sam Clement went 41/3 innings in relief for the win, allowing two runs with four strikeouts.
Ben Ramer, Brian Kriha and Tom Vahl all had two hits for Wisconsin. There were 15 walks and three hit batters in the contest.
AA playoffs
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Class AA League's best-of-five championship series between Bud's/DiCioccio and O'Donalds/Tri County is tied at 1-1.
Saturday's game at Pemberton-Donnell Park wasn't completed in time for today's edition.
Game four begins today at 7:30 p.m. at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
NABF
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pittsburgh Pandas have earned a spot for the NABF College Division World Series beginning Thursday in Toledo.
The Pandas topped the Columbus Big Katz 5-1 for the Regional crown at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Youngstown Metros finished third as it posted a 9-3 victory over T.C. Merchants.
The Pandas took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning and cruised from there.
Lucas paced Pittsburgh (3-0) with two singles and he scored twice. Randy Roberty led the Big Katz with two singles.
The Metros (1-2) were sparked by Dan Bertolini and Tom Clayton who hit a pair of singles apiece. Chuck Shiffauer pitched a complete game, allowed six hits and struck out five to pick up the win.
Adam Daugherty and Kyle Gruszelki led TC Merchants (0-3) with two singles apiece.
