Crash leaves 2 dead, 1 seriously hurt

VERNON -- A 16-year-old Cortland girl was in critical condition Friday night in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, where she was being treated for injuries suffered in an accident that killed two Pennsylvania residents.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Amanda Allen was driving south on state Route 5 in Vernon Township around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when her car veered over the yellow line.
Allen's car struck a van driven by Richard Reigelman, 61, of Jamestown, Pa., the patrol said.
Reigelman died in the crash, but his passenger, Wanda Reigelman, 64, also of Jamestown, was taken to St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, where she later died.
The patrol said it is not clear how the Reigelmans were related.
Allen was taken to St. Elizabeth's, where she was placed in intensive care. There were no passengers in her car.
A witness said Allen failed to negotiate a curve in the rain and her car appeared to fishtail out of control.
