Allegheny College raises more than $115 million

MEADVILLE, Pa. --Allegheny College has completed the largest fund-raising campaign in its 191-year history, raising $115,245,902 in gifts and pledges.
The "Transition and Transformation: Making a Difference" drive began in October 2002 with a $105 million target.
More than 25,000 donors gave to the campaign, which got support from 59 percent of its graduates.
The college's board of trustees contributed more than $53.6 million to the effort.
Gifts supported extensive renovations to the Henderson Campus Center, the opening of the Tippie Alumni Center and the modernization of the track and field at Robertson Athletic Complex.
Donors also established new financial aid funds and supported academic programs and technology-enhanced learning spaces across campus.
"We are so grateful to all who contributed to the Tradition & amp; Transformation campaign," said Tom St. Clair, a 1957 Allegheny graduate and co-chairman of the campaign. "Their gifts have transformed Allegheny's campus and are truly making a difference in the lives of our faculty and students."
Fundraising continues for the proposed Vukovich Center for Communication Arts, which will be named in honor of trustee Robert Vukovich, Class of 1965, and his wife, Laura DiMichele-Vukovich, who gave $22.2 million to the college in February 2001.
It is the single largest gift in Allegheny's history, and some of that money will be used to help build the new center.
