Woman tied up, locked in basement by attackers

Two men ransacked the house and stole the woman's 1994 Buick.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 60-year-old South Side woman was found tied up in the basement of her home by friends who worried when they couldn't reach her by phone.
When found late Wednesday afternoon, the Williamson Avenue victim's hands were tied behind her back with what appeared to be shoestring, and there was an extension cord around her neck, reports show.
She had marks on her face and body, possibly from being beaten or from being thrown down the basement steps.
She was in satisfactory condition Thursday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
The woman's friends told police they saw her around 9 p.m. Monday and tried to reach her by phone Tuesday and Wednesday. They broke out the woman's basement window to enter the house when no one answered the door late Wednesday afternoon.
Attack
The victim told her friends that when she took her trash out around 9:30 p.m. Monday, two men came into her house, tied her up and put her on a couch in the living room.
The men then sat in her kitchen and drank her alcoholic beverages before ransacking the place. It wasn't immediately clear what valuables may have been taken.
Before leaving, the suspects threw the woman down the steps and locked the basement door, police said.
The two men found the woman's car keys and left in her 1994 white Buick Century, police said.
