South Dakota abortion bill is grounded in the Stone Age

South Dakota abortion billis grounded in the Stone Age
Editor:
Where are we going, and why are we letting them take us there? The right-wing, Bible-thumping, conservative, Republican Party and the devoted followers of this ideology are truly working on putting women back to the time of unequal rights, unequal pay and unheard voices.
To think, this country has men and women dying in the Middle East under the assumption they are there to create a democracy. I just wish the hypocrites that put us in the Middle East knew the definition of the word democracy.
South Dakota may sign a death warrant on democracy for not just women in South Dakota but women throughout the "democratic" United States with its ban on abortion.
This legislation is something out of the Stone Age. It is something that young girls shouldn't have to live through. And, for women who have been there and done that, we are obligated to fight-- if not for our sake, but for the sake of generations to come.
The woman from Youngstown who wrote in a July 10 letter that the pro-life group is in the majority is wrong. Polls still show the nation still leans toward choice. That's why Ohio's H.B. 228 is so offensive. As for her claim that on page 101, lines 3095 through 3106 of the Ohio bill, a mother's life is protected, she's also wrong. It states a doctor will not be liable when trying to save the life of a pregnant woman should the pregnancy be terminated. It doesn't say a doctor will not be held liable if termination of a pregnancy is needed to save the woman's life. I dare say there is a world of difference.
In summing up, I am pro-choice. No one and nothing, such as some piece of legislation, will take that away from me. It's my body; it's my choice.

Headline on Mideast storylacked objectivity, integrity
EDITOR:
Regarding July 14's front page headline "Israel fights back," I challenge you to report these events with objectivity and journalistic integrity. That means you do not attempt to sway your readers' understanding of the events through biased and slanted headlines as you did that day.
How can Israel fight back when Israel initiated the invasion? Why had you not clarified that of the 57 people killed as of that date, more than 50 of them were Lebanese civilians attacked in their own residential neighborhoods. It is unfair and irresponsible to present or fail to present accurate details.
Before you jump on your anti-Semitic soapbox to argue against me, please note. Jewish-Americans are not Israelis, and very, very few Jewish-Americans are Zionists. There is an enormous difference between the two, and especially between them and the government of Israel. If you can so eagerly load words to describe fundamentalist Muslims, you should not hesitate to do the same for fundamentalist Jews and Christians.
So I challenge you, show us your professionalism and integrity in presenting the news -- not evidence that you've sunken to sensationalist tactics to sell papers. You are called "The Vindicator."

Israel is right not to listento Condoleezza and George
EDITOR:
I heard Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the evening news telling the Israeli government to use diplomacy when dealing with the Palestinian government (Hamas) instead of using missiles and bombing runs to try to get back an Israeli soldier who was kidnapped. I really can't believe our government officials. They should be imitating Israel, not telling them how to run their affairs.
The terrorist group Hamas was elected into power by the Palestinian people who knew what they were getting into and now they are going to pay for whatever these terrorists do. Why should Israel listen to us? Look at the mess we are in. Israel has tried diplomacy, and it doesn't work with people who don't have a conscience and could care less how many of the Israeli people they massacre.
The Israelis have to live in that area.
