YOUNGSTOWN -- A 23-year-old Regent Street man has been indicted on an aggravated murder charge with a firearm specification in the death of a 19-year-old Dignan Street man.
Andre Maxwell was indicted Thursday in the July 20 shotgun slaying of Corey Stone, who died in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Witnesses told police three or four carloads of men arrived and confronted Stone in the 1100 block of Sunshine Avenue about his possible involvement in the beating of a friend of theirs.
Stone was punched and knocked to the ground by the attackers before someone grabbed a shotgun from a car and opened fire, striking Stone under an arm, reports show.
Also indicted were Deborah L. Toda, 48, and her husband, Paul G. Pollis, 40, of Southwind Drive Northeast, Howland.
Toda was charged with aggravated grand theft in the disappearance of more than $1 million between July 2004 and June 2006 from the North Central Pennsylvania Dialysis Clinic, for which she was a bookkeeper. She was also charged with forgery of $100,000 or more in checks drawn on the clinic's account over the same period.
