Blunt force trauma killed 6-month-old

WARREN - The Trumbull County coroner's office says a 6-month-old boy who died June 22 before being taken to St. Joseph Health Center was killed by a blow to the head.
Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, the county's forensic pathologist, said Douglas Frederick Lee Elkins of Lane Drive died of blunt force trauma to the head.
The baby was dead before arriving at the hospital about 4:30 a.m.
City detectives have not released much information about the death. Chief John Mandopoulos has said the hospital medical staff called police because the injuries "looked suspicious."
He said the baby's body had human bite marks. Dr. Germaniuk declined to discuss reports that the infant had also suffered broken ribs and other rib injuries that had healed.
The coroner ruled the death a homicide.
