Canfield LL team is ousted



Boardman's PONY team lost the Zone championship game.
BOARDMAN -- Shea Murray's two-run single gave led Defiance to a 5-4 victory Wednesday that eliminated the Canfield 11-12 team from the state Little League Tournament.
Home runs by Defiance's Justin Kahle and Robert Zeigler tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning at the Fields of Dreams. Kahle, Shallus Beatty and Henry Weisgerber shared pitching duties for the winners.
Adam Bouch pitched five innings for Canfield and Dominic Patella finished.
Defiance remains alive and will play Avon today at 2:30 p.m.
In the other losers bracket game, Lucasville Valley defeated Jefferson, 5-0.
In the winners bracket, Twin City defeated Avon, 4-1, while Hamilton defeated Cambridge, 12-1.
Today, Lucasville will play Cambridge at 5 p.m. while Twin City will take on Hamilton at 7:30 p.m.
Boardman All Stars lose
HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Boardman's 13-year-old PONY All Stars lost the Zone championship game to New Bedford, Mass., by the score of 12-2 on Tuesday.
Both teams each had five errors because of heavy rain throughout the contest.
Carmen Tarantino hit a triple and single and scored two times to pace Boardman. Teammates Alex Neapolitan singled and Tyler Blangero doubled.
