INDIANAPOLIS -- Tamika Whitmore scored 20 points, leading four Indiana players who scored in double figures as the Fever snapped Sacramento's seven-game winning streak. All-Star Tamika Catchings had 16 points, and Tan White (12) and LaTangela Atkinson (11) had strong nights coming off the bench as Indiana shot 55 percent from the field. DeMya Walker had 14 for Sacramento. The Fever hit 13-of-14 free throws and outscored Sacramento 27-14 in the third quarter to open up a double-digit lead.
Lynx 70, Sting 62
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Rookie Seimone Augustus scored 21 points and Minnesota interim coach Carolyn Jenkins won her debut. Amber Jacobs added 18 points, including the clinching free throws with 21 seconds left, as the Lynx (9-15) won for only the second time in 11 road games. Tammy Sutton-Brown tied a career high with 22 points and Kelly Mazzante added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Sting (7-18), who shot 27 percent in their second straight loss following a four-game winning streak.
Sun 86, Mystics 73
UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Katie Douglas matched a career high with 28 points, including 20 in the second half, and Erin Phillips added a career-high 19 points for Connecticut. Phillips scored 11 in the first half to help the Eastern Conference-leading Sun (19-6) jump out to a 12-point first-quarter lead. DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds to pace the Mystics (12-13). Tamara James (13 points) and Coco Miller (10 points) led the Mystics' reserves, who outscored the Sun's bench 36-7. Washington leading-scorer Alana Beard spent much of the second half in foul trouble and was held to nine points.
Liberty 79, Sky 72
CHICAGO -- Catherine Kraayeveld tied a career-high with 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the New York snapped a franchise-record 11-game losing streak. Barbara Farris added 10 points and 10 rebounds for New York and Loree Moore added 14. Candice Dupree had a career-high 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Sky lost their seventh consecutive game. Amanda Lassiter added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sparks 56, Sky 52
HOUSTON -- Lisa Leslie scored 16 points and led the Los Angeles to its first regular season sweep of Houston. Leslie scored 13 points in the second half and added 13 rebounds for her league-leading 14th double-double of the season. Chamique Holdsclaw came off the bench and added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Sparks, who are 3-0 against Houston this season and lead the Comets by 6 1/2 games in the Western Conference. Sheryl Swoopes scored 15 points for the Comets, who lost at home for just the third time this season. Playing without injured starters Dominique Canty and Tina Thompson, the Comets fell to 1-6 in their last seven games overall.
