MLB ROUNDUP \ Tuesday's other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Devil Rays 6, Angels 3
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Ty Wigginton homered and drove in four runs and Tampa Bay stopped Ervin Santana's seven-game winning streak. Wigginton hit a two-run shot off Santana to tie it at 2 in the sixth. His two-run double off Hector Carrasco during a four-run seventh extended the Devil Rays' lead to 6-2. Santana (11-4) allowed six runs and nine hits over 61/3 innings. It was his first loss in 10 starts.
Royals 7, Orioles 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mark Teahen hit two homers and drove in a career-high five runs to lead the Royals. Angel Berroa went 3-for-3 and Matt Stairs scored three runs for the Royals, who trailed 4-0 after three innings. Stairs doubled ahead of Teahen's 10th homer of the season in the fourth, cutting Baltimore's lead to 4-2. Teahen tied it in the sixth with a drive to left after Stairs walked. It was his first multi-homer game. Mark Redman (7-5) lasted seven innings and got the win despite allowing five runs and 12 hits. He improved to 7-1 in his past 10 starts. Kurt Birkins (5-2) was the losing pitcher. Miguel Tejada went 4-for-4 for the Orioles for his fourth four-hit game of the season. Tejada, who is hitting .543 in his past nine games, raised his average to .329.
Twins 4, White Sox 3
CHICAGO -- Johan Santana out-pitched Jose Contreras, and Jason Bartlett hit a three-run homer as the surging Twins pulled within a game of the slumping White Sox. The Twins have won 33 of their last 41, while the White Sox took their 11th loss in 14 games. Chicago is 71/2 games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central and the Twins are another game out in third. Bartlett broke a 1-1 tie when he hits his first homer of the season with one out in the seventh. Chicago's Joe Crede hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-3. Santana (12-5) allowed three runs and seven hits while striking out six and walking none. He is 8-1 in his last 10 starts against the White Sox. Contreras (9-3) allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings, taking his third straight loss after winning a franchise record 17 straight regular-season decisions. Joe Nathan got the last two outs for his 20th save in 21 opportunities.
Yankees 7, Rangers 4
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Mike Mussina made it through a sporadic six innings for his 12th victory and Aaron Guiel homered in the second straight game. Alex Rodriguez showed more signs of breaking out of his slump, reaching base three times (two walks and hit by a pitch) and scoring twice. The third baseman handled four fielding chances without an error, including a couple of short-hoppers. Mussina (12-3) won his fourth straight decision over his last seven starts. The right-hander had four strikeouts, two walks and a hit batter. He allowed three runs and five hits. Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth for his 24th save in 26 chances. Adam Eaton (0-1) finally made his Texas debut. Activated from the disabled list earlier Tuesday, Eaton was acquired in a December trade from San Diego to be the No. 2 starter. He injured the middle finger on his pitching hand in his final spring start and had surgery.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Diamondbacks 6, Phillies 5, 11 innings
PHILADELPHIA -- Carlos Quentin hit a solo homer in the 11th inning for Arizona. The Phillies walked 11 batters and starter Ryan Madson tied a major league record with four wild pitches in one inning. Chase Utley hit two homers and extended his hitting streak to 25 games for the Phillies.
Nationals 8, Giants 6
WASHINGTON -- Washington held a much-booed Barry Bonds in check, overcame two homers by Ray Durham, and used a five-run third inning of their own against Matt Morris. Jeered when he stepped into the on-deck circle, when he batted, when he caught fly balls, Bonds went 0-for-4 plate and remained at 722 homers, 33 shy of Hank Aaron's record total. Nationals starter Ramon Ortiz (7-9) snapped a three-game losing streak with only his second win in his last eight starts.
Cubs 8, Mets 6
NEW YORK -- Carlos Zambrano hit his fourth homer of the season and won his eighth straight decision. Aramis Ramirez homered again and drove in three runs as Zambrano (11-3) and the Cubs beat Tom Glavine (11-4) for the second time in 11 days. Phil Nevin also connected and Henry Blanco hit a three-run double, sending Chicago to its second consecutive victory over the NL East leaders. New York scored once off closer Ryan Dempster in the ninth and loaded the bases with two outs. But Cubs manager Dusty Baker brought in Bob Howry, who retired Paul Lo Duca on a popup for his third save. Carlos Beltran and Endy Chavez homered for the Mets.
Marlins 2, Braves 1
ATLANTA -- Cody Ross homered twice and Anibal Sanchez won a matchup of unbeaten rookie pitchers. Sanchez (4-0) won his third straight start, beating Braves left-hander Chuck James (4-1). Sanchez allowed one run and seven hits in seven innings. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Sanchez's streak of 23 consecutive scoreless innings was snapped when Marcus Giles singled in a run in the sixth inning. The right-hander's streak still broke the team rookie record of 19 innings by Dontrelle Willis in June 2003.
Reds 2, Astros 0
HOUSTON -- Aaron Harang outpitched Roger Clemens and dominated the Astros for the third time this season. Harang (11-6) allowed four hits and struck out six with one walk in eight innings. He held the Astros to five hits in victories on April 29 (6-3) and June 2 (14-3).
