Building fire was not arson

SEBRING -- Fire Chief James Cannell has ruled out arson in a fire that destroyed three shops in the heart of the village.
Cannell said Tuesday that the five caused about $300,000 in loss to the building and about $100,000 to the contents of three businesses.
Sebring, along with the fire departments from North Georgetown, Damascus, and Alliance fought the blaze that began at 11 p.m. Monday. Cannell thanked the departments for helping with the fire and preventing it from spreading. It took over six hours to put it out.
The building at 257 N. 15th St. was an older structure but the chief did not know its age. Cannell said in terms of the building's age and location, the village "lost a lot" in the blaze.
Effects
The building housed Mama Katz Pizza, which was also a restaurant, Above and Beyond Bridal Shops, and T.J. Baggard Tanning and Nail.
Cannell said there was insurance on the building, but not on all the stores.
One Sebring firefighter was treated at Alliance City Hospital for a burned thumb.
