Cause of Astro Shapes fire sought



STRUTHERS -- Officials at Astro Shapes here are trying to determine the cause of a fire in the plant's paint department Sunday night.
The city fire department was on the scene at 65 Main St. and was assisted by other local fire departments to extinguish the blaze. Bystanders at the scene said the blaze began about 8:30 p.m. Several roads leading to the company were temporarily blocked off while crews fought the fire.
The Mahoning County Haz-Mat team also was called in to ensure that no potential hazardous material problems developed. There were no injuries reported.
The company's Web site says it manufactures residential-grade extrusions for replacement windows, sunrooms, solariums and recreational vehicles. It also provides high-quality aluminum extrusions for commercial, heavy commercial and architectural-grade products.
The company has more than 400 employees.
