Astro Falcons lose, but still advance

STRUTHERS -- The Astro Falcons lost the final battle in Saturday's NABF Junior regional baseball tournament at Cene Park, but won the war.
After the Falcons lost to Diamond Boys 6-5 in the championship game, the Diamond Boys were disqualified by the NABF national office for a violation of rules.
The Astro Falcons will play in the NABF Junior World Series in Northville, Mich., that begins Thursday.
Diamond Boys jumped out to a 6-2 lead then hung on for the one-run victory.
Matt Polluck had two hits and drove home a pair of runs for the winners while Casey Wilson pitched two innings of relief for his second save of the tournament.
Wilson also had two relief wins in the tournament and got out of a bases-loaded with one out jam in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Shane Wagner had two hits and drove home three runs for the Astro Falcons while Mark Turnbull added a pair of safeties.

The Astro Falcons advanced to the championship game by scoring nine times in the first inning by sending 13 men to the plate.
Ryan Rovnak, Jared Turocy and Wagner had two hits each with Wagner driving in three runs for the Falcons. Trent Vallinger went the first 41/3 innings for the win on the mound. Dom Lapolla had three hits while Bob Herberger and Jae Leeworthy had a pair of hits each for R & amp;J.

The Diamond Boys advanced to the championship game as Justin Szdlowski and Wilson each had a pair of hits. Luke Batton tossed four scoreless innings, giving up one hit to get the pitching win.
For R & amp;J, Leeworthy and Mark Lapikas had two hits each.
