On my way home from Church Sunday, I noticed some activity at McCune Park, the Canfield Baseball Club's complex off Shields Road and decided to stop by and see what was happening.
It was a 7 and 8 year old boys baseball tournament and that is not unusual at all.
What caught my attention were the umpires. They were Zetta Dumkrieger, assistant YSU softball coach along with Penguin players Beth Hafley and Shauna Barry.
How nice it was to see those three volunteering their time at noon on Sunday to help the tournament.
And, it was only a few weeks ago those three were part of the Penguin softball celebration when they won the Horizon League Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
Certainly a class act and an example of giving back to the community!
