Man shot in lower back

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 19-year-old Ridge Avenue man was wounded by gunfire when ambushed while sitting in his car at the Market Street McDonald's restaurant Saturday afternoon.
Mark Lett was released from St. Elizabeth Health Center after being treated for a wound of the lower back.
Lett told police he was sitting in his car with a woman when a man he knows walked up to the driver's side of his car and they talked. The assailant suddenly pulled a handgun and opened fire around 1:45 p.m.
The woman in Lett's car, Evita Boyd, said she got out of Lett's car as Lett sped off. A McDonald's employee gave police a description of the gunman, who fled on foot.
Boyd said she was cut on the hand, probably from the flying glass. Police recovered four spent .45-caliber casings from the scene.
Police are looking for the assailant, a 19-year-old East Avondale Avenue man.
