YOUNGSTOWN -- Incoming recruit Devron Bostick has not met initial NCAA eligibility requirements and will not be eligible for the 2006-07 season.
Bostick, of Racine, Wis., is allowed to pursue other possibilities at this time, including enrolling at YSU.

Pavlik ready for fight
YOUNGSTOWN -- NABF middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik of Youngstown will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. today at Cafe Cimmento on East Boardman Street downtown.
Pavlik, along with trainer Jack Loew, boxer Durrell Richardson and agent Cameron Dunkin, will appear on "Inside Boxing" with Gregg Augustine and Mike Cefalde on WBBW-AM 1240.
Pavlik is also scheduled to appear on WKNR-AM 850 between 7-8 p.m.
Pavlik (27-0, 24 KOs) will defend his title in a 12-round bout with 34-year-old Bronco McKart (48-6, 31 KOs) July 27 at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

WARREN -- The Sept. 16 football game between Warren Harding and Mooney will be broadcast live, beginning at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports Net Ohio.

CONCORD -- Boo Timko of Girard shot 39-36--75 to take first place in the boys 12-13 year old division in the Plain Dealer North Coast Junior Tournament Tuesday at Little Mountain Country Club. He was in a field of 14 players.
Nick Bird of Erie, Pa. finished second three strokes behind at 78.
Campbell coaches
CAMPBELL -- The Campbell school board hired the following coaches for the 2006-07 school year: Richard Gozur Jr., varsity baseball coach; and Nelson Schiavi, Brian Wharry, William Wharry, Dave Horvath, Jeffrey Peterson, Richard Randall, Theodore Russell, assistant varsity football coaches. The board also approved Michael Klacik and Steven Pinciaro as volunteer football coaches.

JACKSON, Miss. -- Former Ohio State running back Erik Haw said he will transfer to Jackson State.
Haw, a 6-1, 212-pound sophomore who has three years of eligibility remaining, rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries last season for the Buckeyes.
West Virginia again the pick in Big East
NEWPORT, R.I. -- West Virginia, which went 11-1 overall in 2005 (7-0 conference) and beat Georgia 38-35 in the Sugar Bowl, was picked to win the conference in a preseason poll of Big East media released Tuesday. The Mountaineers received 18 of the 24 first-place votes; Louisville was the second choice, receiving the other six first-place votes, followed by Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Florida, Connecticut, Cincinnati and Syracuse.
