TRADE Indians, Padres swap

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians traded well-traveled Mike Adams to the NL West-leading San Diego Padres for Brian Sikorski in a swap of right-handed relievers Tuesday. Adams started the season with Milwaukee and had an 11.57 ERA in two games. He was traded to the New York Mets on May 26, and spent most of his time at Triple-A level. The Indians claimed the 27-year-old Adams on waivers July 7 from the Mets. He had appeared in 61 games for the Brewers since 2004 and has a career record of 2-4 with a 3.54 ERA.
Sikorski was 1-1 with a 5.65 ERA in 13 appearances with San Diego. He was called up from Triple-A Portland on May 31 and was designated for assignment Monday. He previously pitched five seasons in Japan. The 31-year-old Sikorski joined the Indians before Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The Indians planned to make another move to clear room for him on their 25-man roster.
