BOARDMAN -- Filling a position that has been vacant since March, new township Administrator Michael Villano started work Monday.
Villano, who left his post as the Hubbard auditor to take the position, said there are some pressing matters he wants to work on as soon as he settles into his office.
"I definitely think we're going to hit the ground running," Villano said.
Among the things the new administrator listed as priorities are the storm drain revamp project and personnel issues.
Villano graduated from Youngstown State University in 1998 with a degree in business administration. He got his master's degree from Cleveland State University in public administration in 2004.
Though only 29, Villano has almost 10 years of experience in public office, primarily in dealing with city finances. Villano has more of a variety of responsibilities as the township administrator, but he said he isn't worried.
"It's all familiar issues," Villano said. "The biggest thing is learning the people."

When asked if he felt lucky to land the auditor position at such a young age, Villano said, "Wherever any individual gets is the result of the work they've put in. The work product I've put out over the past nine years shows my capabilities."
Hubbard Mayor Arthur Magee said he thinks Villano will handle his new position "with a breeze."
"He's a very bright young man," Magee said.
