State Senate will hear testimony this week



GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Senate Policy Committee will be listening to area agriculture, business and law enforcement officials this week.
The committee is meeting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Thiel College's Howard Miller Student Center on Packard and College avenues. There will be three panels -- business, agriculture and law enforcement -- testifying about the climate in the 50th Senatorial District represented by state Sen. Bob Robbins.
Committee chairman state Sen. Joe Scarnati will attend along with Robbins.
Those testifying from the business sector from 10 to 11 a.m. will be Charlie Anderson of Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce, Charles Buenzli of Novocell Semiconductor in Hermitage, James Conner of Conner Construction in New Castle, James Lowry of Greenville Area Economic Development Agency, and Robert McCracken of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
Agriculture will be represented by George Greig of Crawford County Farm Bureau, Gary Micsky of the Mercer County Penn State Cooperative Extension, Chester Tau of the Crawford County Grange, and Roger Wascher of Dean Dairy Products in Sharpsville. Testimony will be given from 11 a.m. to noon.
Law enforcement
Among those slated to appear from law enforcement from noon to 1 p.m. are Mercer County District Attorney James Epstein, Hermitage Police Chief Pat McElhinny, Mercer County Sheriff Bill Romine, Crawford County District Attorney Francis Schultz and Titusville Police Chief Michael Simmons.
