South Range adopts bus restriction policy

NORTH LIMA -- The South Range school board adopted a policy Monday that requires pupils to ride home on their assigned buses except in the case of emergency.
Dennis Dunham, schools superintendent, said the policy was developed primarily as a safety precaution. The district transportation coordinator is to work with the district's three principals to determine when a student may ride another bus.
In other business, school officials announced there will soon be a recycling bin for public use at the South Range Sports Complex on state Route 46. The district has received $5,000 from Mahoning County to pay for the bin, a cement pad where the bin is to be located and a fence.
Also, officials announced the school district has earned an "excellent" designation on its 2005-06 Local Report Card from the Ohio Board of Education for the seventh consecutive year. The report cards measure pupils' performance on standardized tests. The district earned 25 out of the possible 25 indicators used to grade schools across the state.
